Hi folks - here are some more...

  1. Hi Andrew. I unexpectedly got talking to Ruth this morning, when I rang the Kaikorai office, and she encouraged me to comment on your blog (since I told her I'd been enjoying reading it) because you thought everyone in NZ had died or forgotten how to email.
Then I realised I should tell you about the first day of the CAIRA course which I attended yesterday, since you will be joining us when you return. I only signed up for it last week, and in fact have not yet completed any paperwork! Without you there were 5 of us there, plus Reg Weeks as trainer - though I think Heather Simpson is in fact co-trainer rather than participant. Also Bruce and Mike Crowl and Stuart Grant (Mornington Methodist minister). It was all quite introductory, an overview of the course, and a discussion on learning styles and reflective learning. A key part of the course (and the assessment) is journal writing. Actually, there's a list of on-line material for us to look at and I could send you some links....
Our next two sessions will be Wed 28 October, and Wed 9 December, both days 10-3.30. Heather will take the one in 4 weeks, because Reg will be overseas, on a pilgrimage round Europe from Greece north.
Is there a limit on the length of these comments? I hope not! I'll write a bit more when I have the course material with me - it's down in my office, I realise.
Blessings on your time in Guyana. I do hope you get somewhere on sharing adult education realities!
